1. Student and Host
Student: Students who wish to find housing at a reduced rate can participate in Connect Room & Board’s housing program. Students pay $2500 for room and board per semester at the home of a participating host. The program is a collection of host homes who have agreed to house a qualified student for a set fee. These students recognize the opportunity we provide. Participation can save students thousands of dollars and allows them to pursue their degree with less financial burden.
Intern: If you are participating in an internship program, you can also find housing at a reduced rate through the Connect Room & Board housing program. Interns pay $167 per week for room and board at the home of a participating host.
Host: A participating host has offered their home to help a student reduce the room and board expense. By becoming a participant, hosts agree to offer a qualified student a room to live in and a place to call home for one semester. In return they receive $2250. (Students pay $2500. Connect Room & Board collects 10% and host receives the balance)
If a host agrees to housing an intern, they will receive $150 per week. Intern pays $167 a week. Connect Room & Board collects 10% and the host receives the balance.

2. Background Check
The program is currently available to students 18 and older. Everyone over 18 participating in this program – host family members and students – will be required to have a background check. The background check will be handled through Renting Authority, an independent third-party background screening company once your profile is submitted. After the background check is complete, the results will be forwarded to Connect Room & Board. All approved applicants will be notified and provide a password to gain access to the secure listings.

3. How to Apply
Student & Interns: Find the complete application form in the main menu at the top of the page. Once you have competed the application, Connect Room & Board will email the student a background check application. Once the student has been cleared by Renting Authority they will be given a password to search the participating Connect Room & Board homes where they are attending school. When a student finds a home that matches their housing needs, agrees to the terms and conditions and the host house rules, the student can initiate a conversation with the host. Once the student and host have made a formal housing agreement, the home will be listed at “Matched.”
Host: Find the complete application form in the main menu at the top of the page. Once you have competed the application, Connect Room & Board will email all individuals over the age of 18 living in the host family home a background check application. When the host family has been cleared by Renting Authority, they will be given a password to preview the participating Connect Room & Board homes and participating student profiles. A student may initiate contact with the host to discuss the housing opportunity. When a host is formally matched with a student, the host must inform Connect Room & Board that a match has been made so that the listing can be updated as “Matched.”

4. Match Made
Participating students initiate conversations with participating host homes. Conversations continue until both parties have formally agreed to the terms and conditions and house rules. When a match between a student and host is made, the host must inform Connect Room & Board so the home can be properly labeled as Matched. It is recommended that the student and host complete a housing contract.
The housing fee will be paid through PayPal to Connect Room & Board. Connect Room & Board collects a 10% fee. The balance will be forwarded to the host once the student moves in.
